Lunar New Year is an important event in many Asian countries. It is a special time for migrants of Asian background, especially young people, to learn more about their heritage as they wade their ways through both Australian and Asian cultures. This year, leaders and children of the Salesian Youth Club at Brunswich had a game stall and performed three dances at two Vietnamese New Year Festivals in Richmond and Melbourne Showgrounds. The Festivals were a massive endeavour of thousands of volunteers and helpers in so many ways. This year was the first time the Festival was organised completely by young people, who had shown great talents, maturity and an excellent sense of responsibility.
