OLR Salesian Youth Leaders at OzBosco
Seven OLR Salesian leaders, Sr. Matalena and myself travelled to Melbourne on Friday 14th October to participate in the Salesian Youth event, OZBOSCO 2011. Having hosted this amazing event last year here at St. Marys we were looking forward to participating in another one.
The OLR leaders were able to do some fundraising in the Parish through a cake stall, and car wash and raised one thousand dollars thanks to the generosity of our parish community. Thanks to Mr. Richard Trehey who was the driving force behind our youth.
We were indeed lucky to have had our own bus driver Mr. Leon Cross who flew to Melbourne before us and was a most awesome bus driver over the weekend.
On the Sunday night after the celebrations at Ozbosco, our group stayed the night at the Salesian Sisters convent in Scoresby. The Sisters as usual were indeed so welcoming and opened their house to our youth. The group then went to Knox City to see a movie and returned home for a good nights' rest . The next morning the Salesian Sisters prepared a hot breakfast for the group and at 10 am we boarded our bus and made our way back to Avalon airport for our flight back to Sydney. Thanks to Sr. Delma, Sr. Kathleen, Sr. Carmel, and Sr. Thuy-Linh for your hospitality and kindness.
The spirit of ozbosco was one of joy, energy, youthfulness and the youth who participated in it had a great time.
We hope ozbosco continues as the Salesian youth, Sisters, Brothers, Priests and lay collaborators come together to strengthen their love for Jesus and the charism of Don Bosco and Maria Mazzarello.
Thanks to the PAT team and organisers.
