From Mornese to Sunbury, Victoria, Australia
Today, 8 May, S. Lucy had a "From Mornese to Sunbury" journey being asked to officially inaugurate a "Mornese Well" at Salesian College, Sunbury, Victoria, Australia. At Salesian College the Year 9 campus is dedicated to Maria Mazzarello with the name "Mazzarello Campus". Through Sr. Rochelle Lamb who is now part of the staff, the spirituality of Maria Mazzarello is spreading and deepening among staff and students. Through the SDB in the name of the SDB Rector, Fr. Will Matthews, the principal, Mr. Mark Brockhus, the religious education co-ordinator, Steve Connelly, and staff at the school, the Mazzarello Campus was created a few years ago for all Year 9 students at the school. The symbols of the Mornese well and window are now familiar to the students. Today the Salesian Sisters were invited to be part of the celebrations in honour of Maria Mazzarello. All students of this campus had a 'holiday' at school to honour Maria Mazzarello's birthday tomorrow (9 May, 180 years young!) and her feast day on Sat 13 May: ...a feature film in the morning, a Eucharistic celebration at noon presided by Fr. Will Matthews sdb with words of wisdom from Sr. Lucy at the end of the Eucharist, a shared lunch provided by the school and finally as the school day ended the official inauguration of the Mornese Well just outside the Mazzarello Campus by Sr. Lucy. It was a fitting way to be among young people today to honour Maria Mazzarello, she who "attracted young people like a piece of iron to a magnet".
