Province Chapter - Day 2

Day 2 was spent reflecting on the question: "How do we renew our missionary passion in our commitment to education and evangelisation together with young people?"

In order to help us discerning and deliberating answers to this question, our young people and lay collaborators were invited to attend today's morning session (if possible) and to give us feedback, suggestions, comments, ideas, or recommendations on what more Salesian Sisters can do to empower them as we carry out God's mission of education and evangelisation together.

The day was filled with the vibrant presence of young people and lay collaborators, both physically and remotely. Many videos interviewing our youth and lay collaborators were sent from communities in Samoa, the Solomon Islands and Australia. In Scoresby, we were blessed with the presence of representatives from COSDU, a youth group from Melbourne University, Bronwyn - a long time and very committed collaborator, and a group of FMA Past Pupils. Their sharing showed much appreciation for what the Sisters have done or are doing, noting the impact on the lives of many. They also made many thoughtful ideas, suggestions and recommendations for us.

After the whole morning listening to our youth and lay collaborators from three different countries with much enthusiasm, Sisters spent personal time to pray and deeply reflect on the question and what they had heard and read, then gathered in small groups to share, exchange thoughts and deliberate the group's answer. All delegates finally gathered again to deliberate the Province's answer. The process, following Pope Francis' synodal method "Conversation in the Spirit", was liberating as everyone could freely and equally voiced their concerns and shared their thoughts.

The day was completed with the beautiful evening prayer prepared by the Gizo community (Solomon Islands) and Goodnight by the Sisters from Samoa.
